Uncovering Scientific Fraud: My Role in the Jonathan Pruitt Case (Tuesday Talks Series)
In 2018, behavioural ecologist Jonathan Pruitt was at the top of his field, holding a prestigious Canada 150 Research Chair at McMaster University. Two years later, discoveries about his research would unravel that reputation and reveal an extraordinary case of scientific fraud.
I’ll share how I and other researchers uncovered the problems, what it was like to question the work of a prominent scientist, and what I learned along the way. Together, we’ll consider what this case tells us about trust, accountability and how to keep scientific research trustworthy.
This talk is presented by Dr. Jeremy William Fox, a professor of Biology at the University of Calgary.
