Ghost Beliefs in Canada
An evening with Dr. David Aveline · October 30
Levitating beds. Dishes flying from cupboards. Laughing red demons and angels descending from the ceiling.
In 2017–2018, sociologist Dr. David Aveline travelled across Canada interviewing people convinced they had encountered ghosts. On the eve of Halloween, join us at Good Cheer Brewing as he shares their extraordinary accounts and explores how people make sense of experiences that seem impossible.
What did they see? Why are they so certain? And what can their stories tell us about belief?
After hearing it all, Aveline remains a skeptic, but one with plenty of stories to tell.
About the speaker: Dr. David Aveline has taught at Mount Royal University for 23 years, specializing in the sociology of religion, sexualities and the paranormal. Born in England and raised in Montreal, he worked as an underground miner, racetrack groom and shoe salesman before earning his PhD in sociology at Indiana University.
